Emergency Canteens: August in the spirit of sustainability and solidarity

For many, August means holiday time, but for those in difficulty, basic needs don't go on break. Facing the risk of local services shutting down for the summer, we at Safe House remained fully operational every single day with our Emergency Canteens project. We guaranteed 2,431 meals to those most in need, reaching a peak of 65 people welcomed on Ferragosto alone.

This solidary commitment goes hand in hand with environmental care: all meals were prepared at zero impact, by recovering surplus fruit and vegetables from local markets and turning them into healthy, fresh, and balanced menus. Fighting food waste means providing quality nutrition, promoting sustainability, and ensuring transparent, dignified support.
